Physic Ventures is the brainchild of a visionary by the name of Will Rosenzweig. We met a couple of years ago and bonded after we learned we were both using the term “for the health of people and planet” independently.  His firm invests in companies that create value in health and sustainability, and they’re certainly living up to their mission.

I had the pleasure of participating in the Annual Physic Ventures LP Meeting in San Francisco last week and it’s remarkable to see how many entrepreneurial business leaders understand the imperative and opportunity to look at not only health and green as important, but as highly social and interconnected. Several of the innovative businesses bubbling up immediately struck me as rich with opportunity for the firms, but also for the public.  Here are four:

• Recycle Bank: A consumer service to incentivize and reward increased rates of recycling and other environmentally friendly actions
• Revolution Foods: Production and delivery of healthy and nutritious school lunches and nutritional information to schools
• Alliance Health: Digital media platform of condition-specific social networks and mobile applications which empower self-care
• Good Guide: Scientifically-based, consumer friendly guide to the health, environmental and social impacts of products and companies

And I’m not the only person who’s discovered how brilliant Will is.  He is the recent U.S. recipient of the Oslo Business for Peace Award – one of only 7 globally.  (Congrats, friend!)
